Mona is owner of the Law Office of Mona Parsa, a law firm primarily representing individuals in immigration matters - including naturalization, permanent residency, temporary visas, and representation in immigration interviews and proceedings - as well as business and entertainment contract review and negotiation. Mona’s prior legal experience includes serving as In-house Legal Counsel for the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) – an employee union with a membership of over 7,000 law enforcement personnel from various California state departments – where she championed the rights of state employees to achieve better working conditions, better working hours, and fair treatment. Mona’s responsibilities also included educating Union members regarding pending legislation that could impact employment conditions. She has also been involved with trial preparation at a full-service business law firm, conducted contract negotiations and monitored publicly disseminated information for compliance with FDA regulations for an international pharmaceutical company, and has worked on legal matters for independent film projects to major studios.

Amongst her work in human rights, Mona recently participated with the delegation of the Bahá’í International Community in the 16th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) – an inter-governmental body within the UN system that is responsible for strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights around the globe. Previously, she conducted research with the State Department’s U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) in Washington, D.C., where she researched human rights and religious freedom issues in various countries, particularly in the Middle East and Africa. Her primary role at USCIRF was to assist in preparing the Commission’s annual religious freedom and human rights report which serves as a major basis for policy-making by the U.S. President and Congress. She also attended and reported on relevant public events and hearings on the Hill, and was with USCIRF when the most recent attacks against the Bahá’ís in Iran commenced.

With a passion for all things supporting human rights and justice, Mona has served as Government Relations and Advocacy chair on the Board of Directors for the United Nations Association-Orange County chapter (UNAOC), where she prepared a monthly newsletter column to keep chapter members abreast of legislation, prepared talking points for congressional visits, and communicated with legislators regarding policies of concern for the UNA. She also assisted with government relations and public affairs for various community associations, including the World Affairs Council of Orange County, and served as a temporary volunteer for the Campaign for the Establishment of a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly (KDUN). Mona’s interest in understanding other cultures has taken her to countries around the globe, including Greece, Israel, Austria, Italy, Turkey, Switzerland, Germany, as well as to Hungary and France where she studied Cross-Cultural Dispute Resolution and Negotiation. On a local level, she has been recognized for her community service with a Certificate of Recognition from the California State Legislature, and the University of California, Irvine has presented her with the Order of Merit award for her service contributions to the community and school, where she studied Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations.
